Handling of adhesive products

To ensure that self-adhesive products retain their optimum adhesion and performance, proper storage and careful handling are crucial. The following guidelines will help you to handle them correctly.

Did you know? If stored correctly, self-adhesive stickers, labels or operating foils can be used for several years without any problems. Please follow these important details regarding storage and handling of adhesive products to ensure a long durability.

Storage

Self-adhesive products should be stored in dry, temperature-controlled rooms. The ideal storage temperature is between 18 and 22 °C. Extreme heat in summer and frost in winter can impair the adhesive’s properties and should be avoided.

Storage life

If stored correctly, self-adhesive products can be used for several years.

Application

The surface to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from grease. Dust, oil, grease or other residues should be removed before application.

In most cases, no additional pre-treatment is necessary. However, heating or a special surface treatment may be advisable for demanding materials, low temperatures or specific application conditions.

After application, the product must be pressed down evenly across the entire surface. This allows the adhesive to establish optimum contact with the surface.

Important:

Full adhesive strength is only achieved after 36 to 48 hours. Only then should the product be subjected to the intended load.
