UL and CSA approval

When electrical products are shipped to the USA or Canada, they require UL or CSA approval. This applies to all components of a product, including rating plates and labels. We will be happy to advise you on selected adhesive materials that have been tested according to UL/CSA guidelines and are used as labels for the USA/Canada.

UL is an independent institute (Unterwriters Laboratories Inc.) founded in 1894, which inspects goods of all kinds imported into or manufactured in the USA for public interest.

All product components must be listed

For this inspection it is important that all components of the machine are approved, including nameplates and labels. The " Standards for Marking and Labelling Systems " defined in UL Specification 1969 cover marking systems and labeling systems.

What does that mean in concrete terms? In the supply chain, all participants must be listed as companies with UL as well as their products for the American market. This means that not only the adhesive material manufacturer must have listed the respective material, but also the processing company.

UL and CSA approval - a requirement for the US market

In the past, customer inspections repeatedly led to nasty surprises when not all components of a product (including labels) were listed in accordance with UL regulations. For many years we have been advising companies on selected adhesive materials that have been tested according to UL/CSA guidelines and are used as labels for the USA and Canada.
